Description

This two-day research weekend is a great follow-on for the Venomous Handling Essentials workshop or comparable coursework from another institution. We'll put skills already learned in the classroom into practice on a vital conservation research project while also exploring some unique wetland habitats. This is also an excellent opportunity to earn experience hours working with a federally listed species under the close supervision of permitted professionals - vital for anyone wishing to apply for their own permits. By the time you're finished with this course, you'll be able to:

  • Discuss ethical constraints related to research and herping

  • Safely restrain venomous snakes for sample collection

  • Measure sex, weight, and length of venomous snakes
