Description

Wetland delineation is a vital tool in wildlife conservation used to identify the boundaries of critically important wetland habitats, document unique species and features, and establish protections or mitigation compensation that help preserve these critically important habitats and the unique species that depend on them.

Based on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 40-hour training recommendation for wetland delineators, this training takes place over two full weekends and is almost entirely field-based. By the end, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and characterize hydrophytic vegetation using species identification, wetland indicator status, and vegetation dominance.

  2. Identify and characterize hydric soils using soil morphology, field indicators, and appropriate soil resources.
